Week 7

Hi Everyone....

Week 7 is with us with good weather hopefully. !!!
This week we will begin preparation for our upcoming Marae visit. Looking at Marae protocol and Tikanga (cultural practise) associated with these visits.
You will have noticed a simple Family Tree in your child s Homework book. This is part of identifying who we belong to. Also an opportunity to generate some discussion about ancestors etc at home. Obviously the children will need some help from yourselves for this. If you can help them fill some of these in it would be great...however don't panic even I am struggling to fill in some of the names of my grandparents.
Many thanks for the offers of parent assistance so far too, it really does help on the day.
Plus there is more!!!!! don't forget to check out the latest photos of our recent Friday!

Week 6

Hi to everyone
I hope everyone manged to have a good break over the Queens Birthday weekend.
I have been away over that time at a Professional Development course (booked in February) so have not been around to say hi. During that time I have managed to get back into my blog that was frozen???? and more importantly Amin has arrived.
A big welcome to Amin and his family. I am sure he is going to be a real asset and friend for everyone. So attaching a new class photo with Amin!

Cross Country

The Junior cross country was also a great day with the weather magical in the afternoon for the Juniors. The class gave it their very best effort and we had 6 people in the finals with Yenuka and Leyah coming first in their race! I thought my heart would burst I was so proud of them.

Shea and Connor really giving it their best.

Our cross country Junior year 1 champs!

The greatest support team ever!

REDWOODS VISIT!!!!!

Redwoods:

Our Redwoods trip was a great success. Despite the cooler morning the mist inside the forest really was spectacular and as the sun came out it gave a whole new dimension to the forest. The bus trip, tree hugging and art really went down well and hopefully this generated some great conversations at home with you about how important our forests and trees are in New Zealand.
We will visit TeTihi reserve to compare different forest types in week 5.

Redwood Photos May 2014.

Morning mist in the Redwoods slowly lifted!

Some of the many photos taken during our day visit. Very enjoyable and a huge thanks to all the parents who helped make the day such a success!

Term 2 (and out of plaster!)

Our room 10 buddies reading session.

Our Friday reading buddies have really helped us in our reading time
