What a day...! Grandparents Concert Day.

What a wonderful day today was ...great singing , dancing and baking! Room 9 along with the rest of the year 1 classes hosted their grandparents to a wonderful concert.
It was so nice to meet all the grandparents I have heard so much about...Yes you are special to your grandchild and they have been so excited to share their work and room with you. So a big thankyou for making the effort to come today.

Just attaching a few photos for your entertainment and the video (sorry if its sideways ..unfortunately filmed that way and my technical expertise doesn't extend to righting it??? )

You can almost sense their excitement minute before going down to the hall!

Today was a truly rewarding experience for me too and reminded me of why I am still teaching. The way the children shared with their grandparents and confidently performed today shows just how much they have learnt and grown as young people this year. You are the best room 9. :-)

Enjoy your weekend.

Term 3

                                                     Term 3

Term 3....... here already with great events planned . Our postponed Marae visit, Grandparents concert, Fair day (in conjunction with our Science unit at the end of the term) and our Bookweek. So it will be a busy and eventful term......

In week 5 the A.F.L. folders will come home with work covered so far.  Homework readers (bookbags) will continue as usual with an added spelling or reading activity. We will also be covering a Mathathon in weeks 2-4 as part of our homework.

In room 9 don't forget we always have current writing samples on our story boards ...and these are really showing the great progress your child is making.Check out the latest.
All the reading groups as you know are fluid and continually adjusting as your child progresses. Their personal level can be seen in the homework book with a detailed coloured reading rocket. (This shows the skills being covered at this level.) Continued support though with reading at home is irreplaceable so thankyou for all the support in this.

Week 3: Bookweek!
This was a Huge success and many many thanks to Mrs Atkinson for making this such a fun week full of learning. Jonathan also was the Junior winner of the Dr Suess quiz. Well done Jonathan!!!!

The children really got behind the characters of the books and attended all the special events throughout the week. Films, games, quizzes and of course our Book Character Parade on Thursday. The photos say it all. We were one of the few classes who had a 100% turnout and Lilly got a prize as Little red Riding Hood...Well done Lilly.
Our special Judge Tamati even had his photo taken with us.
