Week 4  over and what a busy week we have all had. New reading groups have now been established, the class have completed some amazing art in the hall (our very own take on a Tapa cloth quilt). To fit in with our Pacific Islands study..
Our timetable is now established for term 1 with our library time on Tuesday. Please help your child remember to return their books on the Monday, junior assembly and singing is Thursday afternoon and buddy class reading is Friday morning.
Next week of course is our Gala night on the Thursday......see you all there. Many thanks to the parents who have offered help. Check us out on the Steak Sandwiches stand!!We now have enough parents for swimming thank you and I will be contacting those parents directly next week.
We still however are looking for helpers for PMP if you can help with this, please let myself  or Angela Donlon know.
The bought lunches went well this Friday too. I have a copy of food and prices on our notice board by the back door entrance to the class .Week 6 we also are on for assembly on Tuesday 12o'clock.The class are keen to get on that stage...we have some movers and shakers judging from our Pacific fun days. So get those cameras charged.
Enjoy the weekend see you all next week.

Ro
Room 9 completed our Pacifica costumes after working hard on them for two days!!!!!  We created skirts and Leis worn in Pacific Islands where it is very warm. Lots of plants grow there that the people use for clothing , building, food and we looked at some of these. We are going to finish our Tapa cloth mats this week.In Samoa they use these for clothes and mats to sleep on.

In Week 4 we are continuing to look at our Pacific neighbours and if any parents can share their experiences or culture please let us know. We would love to share them with you, just let me know if I can help.

The class are now settled into school routines and my initial assessments for grouping are nearly completed. By now the children should be bringing their book bags home each night to read or share some work with you and targetted reading books will be in them.Poems are still used in the weekends, however rereading older work to reinforce just how much your child has learnt also helps to keep them motivated. Sign or write praise too they proudly show me the next day when you do it gives them a real buzz!
Some children are still not taking their bookbags home?? and a few parents or guardians haven't signed their log books to let me know if they have got home. That could be a miscommunication but by week 4 it's really helpful for me if they know that you will be asking for it.

Thankyou so much for the parents who have offered to help on the Steak sandwiches stall too, if there is anyone else who could give an hour on the night(Thursday 6th March) just send a note if you can't come in personally and I'll pass on your details.

Swimming is also on in a few weeks thankyou for the parents help so far, I will contact you with final details soon. I am blessed by such a spirited class and supportive parents. It really does make the difference.
Well week 4 beckons catch up with you all soon ...and keep an eye on the blog for our latest photos.
